Procedure for collecting the tumor tissue sample

1.

In case the mass is suspected to be malignant.
Please schedule the patient for resection/debulking surgery.  Resect the entire tumor mass.  Cut a small representative piece for histology and freeze the rest (approx. teaspoon full) in a Ziploc bag with 5-10 mL of normal saline.  After the histology confirms the tumor to be malignant you could contact the Oncottack™ Office for the pick-up of the sample for processing.

In case the tissue is a recurrent mass.
Please schedule the patient for resection/debulking surgery.  Resect the entire tumor mass.  Cut a small representative piece for histology, if desired, and freeze the rest in a Ziploc bag with 5-10 mL of normal saline.  Contact the Oncottack™ Office for the pick-up of the sample for processing.

The sample amount should preferably be more than a tea-spoon full (> 5 g wet weight) and minimally about one-fifth of that (1 g wet weight).  A larger amount of the sample will allow us to bank the tissue for preparing future vaccine shots.  In every case the Veterinarian will be notified on whether excess tissue was banked for future use.

2.

For pick-up, please call the Oncottack™ Office at 312-231-4520 or email to contact@vivastem.com.  If the call is bounced to the voice mail please leave name, address and call back number.
